A new look

I was getting a little bored with my background, and I figured -- HEY! It's almost the 4th, so why not??

This makes me wonder . . . what are your plans for celebrating our great nation's Independence? I'm still not completely sure what I'm doing. Maybe I'll just copy one of your ideas!!

I haven't found any more movie quotes, but I'm tecnically not at the library right now. My friend, Karen is house/dog-sitting and I've been staying with her (they have internet!).

I don't have too much progress on my projects, but I'm busy right now with my church's day camp. I agreed to be the craft coordinator (what was I thinking???!!!!)Anyway, things are slowly coming together for that. Maybe I'll try to post some pictures of the crafts we'll be doing. (I know, more promises of pictures. -- maybe I'll do a post of all pictures sometime!)

How it's gone

So, it's been a week, so I'll give a little update on how my "plans" have gone (and I have a couple extra that I've done that I'll comment on, too!)

1. Organize apartment (sort-of an on-going thing, but I would like to at least get some pictures on the wall!

Nothing on the walls yet, but things are getting a little more organized. I bought an aquarium at a yard sale when I went to my cousin's graduation, so that's up and I bought some fish for it, too! I was going to post some pictures, but I forgot to bring my camera to the library! Maybe next time I won't bore you with so many words!

2. "catalogue" books --

No progress on this one yet!

3. Scrapbook my Chile pictures.

No progress on this one either (this is a little depressing!!)

4. Organize/sort school files.

YEAH!! I did actually do this one, at least the part that doesn't have to be done at the school! Now I just need them to finish waxing the floors so I can get in there and start sorting!

5. Go to the resource center to laminate some things and cut out some stuff for next year.

I think I need to wait until I can get in my room so I know what needs to be done (a.k.a. -- not done either!

6. Read at least 5 books I've never read before.

No progress yet (I guess I can't be too hard on myself -- it's only been a week!)

7. Crochet at least one afgahan.

NOPE!

8. Find a quote from each movie I own.

O.K.!! This one I actually started! I decided I would do 5 each time I come to the library. I was going to come last Saturday, but they didn't have internet service, so this has been done for a couple of days! I'll share them with you, too, and you can let me know if you know of a better quote for one of the movies. (my OCD kicked in -- I'm doing them in reverse alphabetical order)

You've Got Mail -- "If I hadn't been Fox Books and you hadn't been The Shop Around the Corner. And you and I had just, oh, met. (I know) Yeah -- I would've asked for your number. And I wouldn't've been able to wait 24 hours before calling you up and saying 'Hey! How 'bout, oh, how about some coffee, or, ya know, drinks or dinner or a movie . . . for as long as we both shall live.'" Joe Fox/Tom Hanks (Kathleen Kelley/Meg Ryan)

Yours, Mine, & Ours -- "Why would anybody do this?!"
"But -- it's clean"
'No - honey - I can't work with clean. I have a deadline!"
(the mom after seeing how her children had cleaned up her work area)

World Trade Center - "We're not leaving you buddy. We're Marines -- You are our mission!"

White Christmas - "You know, in some ways you're far superior to my Cocker Spaniel"

War of the Worlds - (note -- I'm between 2 quotes -- let me know what you think)

"Runnin' -- that's what'll kill ya. And I'm dead-set on livin'."

or

"Between me and my brother, we know everything."
"What's the capital of Australia?"
"That's one my brother knows."

On to the new stuff!

9. I've had a couple-year goal of putting together all my puzzles and marking the back with a letter for that puzzle just in case the pieces ever get mixed up. I'm up to S so far, but I still have several puzzles to go. I put together one more this past week, so that's going well.

10. re-format my computer.

I tried to do this, but when I called Dell, they said that since my warrenty is up, I would have to pay them $39 to have them talk me through it. I told them never mind. I was really confused. When I had my desktop (not a Dell), it included everything necessary to re-format the computer whenever I wanted to! My laptop didn't even have an owner's manuel! (at least not that I can find!) Anyway, I'm going to check on their website and see if there's any information there that would help me.

I guess that's all for now. Hopefully the next time I post I will have accomplished a little more.

SUMMERTIME!!

So I've been home for 2 days now and I'm bored. Not that I don't have anything to do, it's just that I don't really want to do them!! :-) I'm at the library updating this, so at least I know I can do that! I cold walk to the library sometime -- it's only about 2-3 miles away along sidewalk-ed (is that a word??) streets. We'll see if we have a "cooler" day sometime in the future!!

I have a few "plans" for the summer. I think if I write them down, I'll at least have some kind of encouragement when (or IF) I finish them.

Here goes: (maybe my "readers" can encourage me to attempt to accomplish something!!)

1. Organize apartment (sort-of an on-going thing, but I would like to at least get some pictures on the wall!

2. "catalogue" books -- I know, I'm a geek! What can I say? I'm a teacher and I like organization (to the point that if it's not organized -- IT'S NOT ORGANIZED!!)

3. Scrapbook my Chile pictures. (It would be nice to do this before I actually go back in November!

4. Organize/sort school files. (this speaks for itself!)

5. Go to the resource center to laminate some things and cut out some stuff for next year.

6. Read at least 5 books I've never read before (children's books excluded -- I may be doing this with #2 as I catalogue them -- like I said: geek!)

7. Crochet at least one afgahan.

8. Find a quote from each movie I own. This may not seem like too difficult of a task, but I own about 75 movies. This really started because I like the line from Tin Cup (I know, not the best movie in the world, but this line is great!) "When a defining moment comes along, you define the moment or the moment defines you." I don't know if someone else said it before Kevin Costner, but I like it -- not the most Theological statement, but there's a lot of truth in it!

That's all I can think of for now. If you think of anything else I should try to do this summer, let me know. I think I'm going to stay pretty busy, but you never know!!

No more lessons, no more books . . . I'll stop there :-)

I know it's been a while since I blogged, but It's been a whirlwind here! (wherever "here" may be!!)

SCHOOL IS OUT!!!

I'm just a little bit excited to be out for the summer. :-) Don't get me wrong, I'm going to miss my kids--it will just be nice to have time to FINALLY get things situated at my apartment. I'm still hoping to find a job for the summer, so I'll keep y'all updated on how that goes.

My cousin graduated last Friday -- my final cousin to graduate High School! (I feel very old!) It was interesting -- at the graduation, the valedictorian kept saying, "I'll see you all in 10 years". that made me think, "10 years, huh?! that's next year for me." Needless to say, I'm feeling VERY old about now. It's not like I'm 30 yet ('cause that's REALLY old -- right Bryan (and Karen) :-) I'm only 27, but I don't even like being that! I don't FEEL 27! Many have said that I don't LOOK 27! Maybe I'll just be 25 for a while and see how that goes!!

I'm not sure how often I'll be able to update this this summer. I don't have internet at my apartment, but I may try to go to the library fairly regularly. I'll be at the school once a week, or every other week, so I'll at least have one of those!
